Memories of the Mills & Factories of Cheadle & Tean

Does anyone have any connections with anyone who worked for the Cheadle Textile Company (ceased trading in the 1970s) or Brough, Nicholson and Hall at the Oakamoor Road mill, which closed in the 1980s? Similarly, of the Tean Mill?

There is a grant funded project taking place to capture the memories of this industry in this area and pass on some of this history to local children. This project is being supported by Cheadle Historical Society and local schools. So far we have been loaned pieces of ribbon and tape that was produced, sent some photos, and recorded people's memories of family members that worked at these local sites.

It is all incredibly fascinating and amazing to think that Cheadle and Tean were so dominated by this industry.

There is an event in Cheadle Library on Saturday 14th October from 10am. - Memories of the Mills which includes an art activity for child participants.
